Ride to Harley-Davidson 105th and the HOG 25th in Wilwaukee

Ride departs from Bob Evans. This is a ride out to Milwaukee for anyone interested in riding with a group. We will take highways to Northern Ohio and skirt along the Michigan border over to Illinois and into Wisconsin. Our only stops will be for food and gas, and we will stop Wednesday night at a hotel. This ride will not be easy, liesurely, or especially scenic, and we will be travelling at highway speeds. Some riders may not be comfortable with the group's average speed, but we are riding to get to Milwaukee in as little time as possible. Once arriving in Milwaukee, the group will divide, as some riders are staying at different hotels and are leaving on different days. Riders will have need to find their own route - and companions - for the return trip, as the road captains leading the ride out are headed South on Friday. Length of ride: 1200 total miles, 1100 highway. 8 stops are planned. (JH, DB, RM)

Ride to Antietam Battlefield: Civil War Series

Ride departs from White's Ferry Parking Lot. In 1862, Lee felt he could win the hearts of Marylanders by marching his Army of Northern Virginia across the Potomac River. He did so at White's Ford, just North of White's Ferry. We will meet in the parking lot of White's Ferry (but we don't cross the river) and then follow Lee's army up to the town of Sharpsburg where the bloodiest day of battle in our nation's history took place. We always stop at the park building and get a lecture on something interesting about the battle. In the past three years we've heard things on Hospital care, the three phases of the battle, and the events that led the two armies to Antietam. After touring the battlefield, we follow Lee's retreat across the Potomac and eat lunch in Shepardstown WV.

There is no gas at White's Ferry, so please gas up in Poolesville. It takes about 25 minutes to ride out Rt28 to White's Ferry from Rockville, so leave yourself plenty of time to get there. This is a great ride to bring kids on if they are studying the civil war in high school. Join us for this all day ride into history. Length of ride: 160 total miles, 25 highway. 4 stops are planned. The Widow Maker III

Ride departs from Dempsy's. Every year we warn people about not coming on this ride, that it is an a dvanced ride for crazy riders who are very experienced with their bikes. Strangely, every year we get a handful of newer riders who thought we were just joking. We Are NOT Joking. This ride is extremely hazardous and is listed on several world government lists of banned activities. No matter how good a rider you think you are, no matter how much experience you think you have, you should still probably stay at home and avoid this ride. This is the triple black diamond of motorcycle rides. Riders who went on this ride in years past should have been arrested and had their licenses revoked for the way they rode. We leave from Dempsey's at 7pm, and the survivors stop for dinner along the way. Length of ride: 45 total miles, 0 highway. 1 stop is planned. (JH, DG, DM)

This is going to be a good one, so hang in there for a ride you'll long remember. Length of ride: 275 total miles, 0 highway. 3 stops are planned. (BR)

Zora and More Ride

Ride departs from McDonald's. Find the elusive "Z" for HOG's ABCs of Touring in Zora, Pennsylvania. Along the way, pick up additional hard-to-find letters and the Gettysburg National Battlefield Park. We will ride non-highway roads up into Pennsylvania. Lunch is planned at a great diner in downtown Gettysburg. After lunch, we'll stop by Battlefield H-D for a pic (and shopping, if you wish), then briefly stop by the battlefield for another photo op. For the ride home, we will use Rt. 97 South through Littlestown to Westminster. Then we'll ride on Rt. 27 to a stop at Jimmy Cone in Mt. Airy. From there, Rt. 27 south takes us back home.

Plan for frequent stops and slow-going, but a fun ride. Even if you're not participating in HOG's ABCs of touring, enjoy the ride and see some interesting off-the-beaten track sights. New Member Ride

Although all chapter members are invited on these rides, a new member ride is designed as a nice way for our new chapter members to meet other chapter members and learn our chapter's riding style while being treated to a free lunch courtesy of MCHog. Rides usually last about 2 hours with an hour being spent on lunch with the route staying close the the Montgomery County area. New member rides depart McDonald's on route 124 at 11:00 am. Check the members only area for a map to this departure point.
