New Member Ride

Ride departs from District H-D. Please join us for our new member ride to Bassets restaurant in Poolesville, Maryland. We will ride almost due west from the dealership as the crow flies through Darnestown to the Southwestern corner of Montgomery County. As a chapter we have very few rides that go to this part of the county, so it's always a lot fun to enjoy the scenery and interesting back roads to Poolesville, Maryland. After lunch we will take the long way back to the dealership via Beallsville which is always a scenic ride. Please arrive on time, gassed up and ready to go.

Although all chapter members are invited on these rides, a new member ride is designed as a nice way for our new chapter members to meet other chapter members and learn our chapter's riding style. New member rides depart from our sponsoring dealership, District Harley-Davidson.

DelMarva Poker Run

Ride departs from Dempsey's. This is our annual ride to Seaford, DE to support the Delmarva HOG chapter's poker run. Their Poker run is always fun. Not a lot of hills nor corners. Think of this as the East Coast version of riding the Bonneville Salt Flats. But to be fair, one year we actually encountered a huge 3 foot hill (the approach ramp to a bridge) that was pretty scary. Seriously, the Delmarva HOG Chapter are always great hosts, lead a really fun ride, there will be food, and its great scenery. Please join us for this fun ride. Make sure you arrive on time and gassed up. We will be crossing the Bay Bridge so make sure to bring your EZ PASS or $4.00 for the toll. Length of ride: 260 total miles, 0 highway. 3 stops are planned. (JP, JW)

Great Northern Ride

See the information sheet for MC HOG's Great Northern Ride, a 9 day trip to Maine and Canada. The group leaves Saturday May 26 (Memorial Day weekend) and returns 9 days later on Sunday June 3, 2018.

A passport is required for each person on this ride. See instructions in the attached flier about hotel arrangements. Riders must call each of the hotels on the attached itinerary and reserve a room. All the room blocks are under MCHOG. The room blocks are only set for 14 rooms so don't wait.

Besides great riding, great laughs, and good times, here are some of the sites we will see on this trip: ride through the Silver Lake Wilderness of New York State, cross Lake Champlain on our bikes via a scenic 30 minute ferry, tour the Ben & Jerry's factory in Vermont, Ride up (and down) Mt Washington in New Hampshire, visit Bar Harbor, Maine, take a whale watching boat cruise, ride through the beautiful Acadia National Park, If you feel like rising early -- be the first person in the USA to see the sun rise by riding up Cadillac Mountain, experience Canadian border agents, tour Campebello -- the childhood vacation home of Franklin D. Roosevelt (the gardens will blow you away), hop onto two ferries and two islands as we make our way to Harley-Davidson of Saint John, visit beautiful Prince Edward Island and take a tour of some of their historic lighthouses, experience American border agents, shop at the multi-building, 24-hour a day flagship store of LL Bean and take a picture in front of the giant boot. Plus lobsters and seafood and scenic riding and jokes and laughter and pictures and Harleys.

Any questions about this ride can be directed to John at trekkiejohn@gmail.com Giddy up! Ride length: thousands of miles on both interstates and back roads. (JH)

Afternoon ride - Let's Dance

Ride departs from District H-D. This is an afternoon ride for folks that have stuff to do during the day. We will take back roads down to Glen Echo Park on MacArthur Blvd and take part in the Square Dance there. This is put on by the Folklore Society of Greater Washington; they do it all through the summer and various venues. Admission is $13 and they teach you how to do it.

I've been at the park when they are doing this and it looks like loads of fun, but have never participated. They usually have a big crowd of people of all ages. Not only will this be a fun activity, but imagine the laughs we'll have as a group trying to square dance with everyone! What a great ride to bring a spouse or dance partner. Depending on what folks want to do, we can leave after a few hours and grab a bite to eat, or people can just head for home. The park is located conveniently next to the Clara Barton Parkway so getting on the highway to go home will be a breeze. Length of ride: 50 total miles, 20 highway. 2 stops are planned. (JH)

MDAMRA Ride to Harley's 115th National Rally in Milwaukee

Ride departs from Williamsport Harley-Davidson, 10210 Governor Lane Boulevard, Williamsport, MD. Sidestands up at 10:30.

See the information sheet for details about the Maryland/Delaware American Motorcycle Riders Association (MDAMRA) ride to Milwakee to participate in the 115th Harley-Davidson National Motorcycle Rally.

This 8-day ride will completely circle Lake Michigan. Leaving on Monday, August 27, 2018, the trip will take you through Michigan, across the Mackinac Strait over the infamous Mackinac Bridge (longest suspension span in the U.S.), along scenic US-2 in Michigan's upper Peninsula, south into Wisconsin, arriving in Milwaukee on Wednesday.

Three days at the National Rally will give plenty of time for sightseeing and Rally activities before heading out on Sunday to complete the Lake Michigan loop around Chicago and returning home on Monday, September 3, Labor Day.

Instructions for hotels and the ride route are provided in the attached flier. All riders must make their own hotel arrangements.

Register for the National Rally directly and get more information from this Harley- Davidson website.

This is an aggressive ride that will cover over 2,000 miles and will involve lengthy interstate highway riding, as well as riding over the 8,614-foot long "Mighty Mac" (Macinac) bridge, some 295 feet high at its peak. This ride is most appropriate for experienced, fearless riders. Daily distances vary, but average 350-miles/day and even more on the ride back to Maryland.

This is not an MCHOG ride. It is being led by HOG road captains from other MD/DE chapters.
